CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)

What Is CBT Therapy?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a structured, evidence-based approach that helps you understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. It’s widely used in the UK and recommended by the NHS for a range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, stress, worry, phobias, and low self-esteem.

How CBT Works

CBT is based on the understanding that our thoughts can influence how we feel and how we behave. When we get stuck in unhelpful thinking patterns, these can maintain or intensify the difficulties we’re experiencing.

In sessions, we work together to:

  • Identify unhelpful thoughts or patterns that may be contributing to how you feel.
  • Develop realistic and balanced ways of thinking that support emotional wellbeing.
  • Learn practical coping strategies, such as grounding techniques, problem-solving skills, or behavioural changes that help you feel more in control.
  • Experiment with new behaviours, at your pace, to break cycles of anxiety, avoidance, or overwhelm.

CBT is collaborative—meaning we work as a team—and focused on giving you tools you can use long after therapy ends.

What to Expect

  • A safe, non-judgemental space to explore what’s going on for you.
  • Clear goals that we agree on together.
  • Practical strategies between sessions (sometimes called “home practice”) to help you build confidence and maintain progress.
  • A short- to medium-term approach for many clients, with long-term benefits.

Who CBT Can Help

CBT can be helpful for anyone experiencing:

  • Anxiety or panic
  • Depression or low mood
  • Stress
  • Worry and overthinking
  • Health anxiety
  • Social anxiety
  • Phobias
  • Low confidence or self-esteem
  • Difficulties with boundaries
  • Unhelpful behavioural patterns

Why People Choose CBT

Many clients appreciate CBT because it is structured, practical, and empowering. It helps you understand why you’re feeling the way you do and teaches you strategies to manage challenges more effectively. It is suitable for adults, young people, and can be integrated with other therapeutic approaches depending on your needs.
